The Fairfield Eagles split their games this week and remain in the hunt for a playoff spot in District 20-3A. They will play a key game in Teague to open the next week.

They played in Elkhart on Tuesday and defeated the Elks 85-69. Chapman scored a pair of three pointers in the first half and Jordan scored ten of his game high 19 points in the first half.

Jakendric Turner scored ten of his 17 points in the first period followed up three pointers from Brown in the first and third period to finish with 15 points. Madden McElroy got into rhythm in the third period with eight points and completed the night with ten. Connor Colver had a pair of threes in the first period and also scored ten points in the win.

The Eagles returned to the Johnson Activity Center to take on the top-ten ranked Palestine Westwood Panthers on Friday night.

David Russell and Chris Carter paced the Panthers with the bulk of the points. Carter nailed threes from the baseline and put Westwood ahead. Brown and Turner counted with three pointers each and McElroy scored six in the first period, but the Panthers led 22-19.

Westwood hit eight of their last 12 shots of the first half and McElroy continued to match the Panthers with 13 points in the second period.

All-State guard Kavian Bryant was held to ten points in the half and the Panthers led 46-27 at the half.

The Panthers began to pull away with a pair of threes from Hollis and Sebastian Lathan grabbed offensive rebounds and dished them out for scoring opportunities. Kohl Collins scored six of the nine points in the period and the Panthers extended the lead to 63-47.

Madden McElroy finished the night with a game high 28 points and Turner pitched in 16 in the 81-66 loss for the Eagles.
