The Eagles picked up their first win of the season and move into the final games of the schedule before district begins. They notched a shutout of Brownsboro after allowing more than 35 points each in the first two contests.

Fairfield took the ball first and moved downfield with the running of Jaylon Shed and passing of junior quarterback Kohl Collins. The drive stalled at the Brownsboro 16-yard line and Kieran King stepped up and hit a 33-yard field goal to give the Eagles a lead they would maintain for the remainder of the night.

The Eagle defense forced a three and out Fairfield began at their 20-yard line and advanced to just passed midfield and had to punt. The Collins punt was downed at the Brownsboro three-yard line and on the first play from scrimmage, Bear running back was bottled up and tackled in the endzone for a safety and Fairfield extended the lead to 5-0.

Taking the free kick, Fairfield got a good return by Calyn Wilson into the Brownsboro end of the field. They only needed four plays to cover the ground, three on Shed carries, the final going for a six-yard touchdown. King’s point after made the lead 12-0 at the end of the first quarter.

The Bear’s offense was stifled most of the night and were forced to punt deep in their own end of the field and Fairfield started at midfield.

Again, they needed only four plays to go 51 yards and Collins faked out the entire Bear defense and pulled the ball on the option and walked into the endzone for the ten-yard touchdown, extending the lead to 19-0 following the point after.

Late in the first half, Bear quarterback Adam Thompson had his pass intercepted by Madden McElroy, his first of two on the night. His interception return set the Eagles up at the Brownsboro 20 and took only two plays to put the game out of reach. Collins connected with Finn Smith for the 20-yard score and the 26-0 halftime lead.

Armando Charles and Darion Weatherall had a big second half with tackles behind the line of scrimmage and a sack. Dylon McGowan and a second McElroy interception stopped any threat of a score of the Brownsboro Bears.

Fairfield tacked on one more score before the night was finished. Beginning at their own 40-yard line, Fairfield marched downfield taking the minutes off the clock. On the eleventh play of the drive, Collins hit McElroy for the 23-yard touchdown to close out the scoring and the game at 33-0.

The Fairfield Eagles (1-2) will take to the road on Friday when they travel to Buffalo for a date with the Bison.
