Over a dozen Fairfield tracksters will head to Huntsville’s Bowers Stadium for the Region III meet next weekend.
Madison Smith took a first-place finish in the 3200-meter run ahead of teammate Morgan Coleman. Both ladies will advance to the regional meet. Smith had already punched a ticket to the regional meet with a third-place finish in the 800-meter run. She finished behind Jordan Brock of Gatesville and Alana Armstrong of Lorena.
Da’Meka Shed will also compete in two events in Huntsville. She finished third in the 300 meter hurdles. The event was won by Jade Bontke from Hillsboro and second was Lorena’s Tiffani Peacock. Shed also finished fourth in the 110 hurdles in a close race won by Sha’rell Houff of Connally.
Brandi Carter finished third in the 200-meter dash. Keara Birdow took second in the shot put in an event won by Alesis Juntunen of Lorena. Josey Richardson finished fourth in the discus and Cali Gawryszewski had a third-place finish in the pole vault. That event was dominated by Lorena’s Tiffani Peacock by two and a half feet.
The mile relay team of Matilda Ohvo, Madison Smith, Da’Meka Shed and Iesha Jenkins finished third behind teams from LaVega and Connally.
Tarrance Rischer dominated his second consecutive meet with a win in the shot put. He completed the event with a foot and half margin over Kedrick James of LaVega
Grant Hubbert finished third in the pole vault with a qualifying jump of 13 feet. Riley Richards of China Spring finished first in the event with a jump of 16’ 6”.
A.J. Polk finished third in a fast and close 200-meter dash. He was edged out by Devin Miles of Connally and the winner Johnny Simpson of Madisonville.
Slade Harkcom qualified for the regional meet with a fourth-place finish in the 800 meter run. The 4×200 relay team of Polk, Kameron Ransom, Jashaughn Hatcher, and Roderick Larkin finished fourth behind LaVega, Athens and Madisonville.
