The Fairfield Eagles outscored the Teague Lions 43-16 in the second half to break open a close game and stay in the race for a playoff spot in District 20-3A.
Both teams scored and those scores were answered in the first few moments. Jehmel Rice and Brayden Leija scored, and the scores were covered on a put back from Madden McElroy and a short jumper from Kohl Collins. Manny Brown hit a three pointer late in the period and the Eagles had an 18-16 lead after one.
Rice hit a three and scored five straight points in the second period and McElroy and Pierre Allgood responded with eight in the period.
Teague missed eight straight shots in the second and the Eagles added to their lead and held a 32-28 advantage at the half.
The Fairfield Eagles owned the third period and went on a 20-0 run to break the game open. McElroy scored twice and Collins blocked two shots that led to transition scores for the Eagles. McElroy made four out of six free throws and Brown added a pair from long distance. Tylin Randle and Rice scored at the end of the period, but the Eagles extended the lead to 56-34 heading into the fourth period.
Jaylon Shed and Jason Brackens scored in the final period and the final score was long settled and the Eagles won the home game 75-44.
Fairfield travelled to Buffalo for a district contest, but the information was not available at press time.
