The Fairfield Eagles had a big week. It started with the Volleyball team getting big wins over Athens and then coming back and defeating the Robinson Rockets. We will be playing Alpha Omega on Tuesday, there. Then we will play Brownsboro here Friday at 4:30pm.
In Cross Country, we competed at the SFA Lumberjack Invitational on Saturday. Our Varsity girls WON the meet with four girls finishing in the top 15. Madison Smith coming in first place and Morgan Coleman finishing in second place. The JV girls won the JV division. We had three girls finish in the top 15. The Varsity boys ran in the race with 300 competitors. They compete with all divisions even 5A and 6A. Our top runners were Landon Espinoza and Dearndre Rosales. We will be running at the Region III preview in Huntsville on Saturday.
In Football, our freshman team defeated Rusk 54-44. This was the highest scoring freshman game I have ever witnessed. The JV followed the Freshman with a 26-8 win in Rusk. The Varsity finished the weekend with a hard fought victory over a good Rusk Eagle football team. We were down at half 20-8. The boys did a good job of COMPETING until the end of the game. I’m proud of the way the represented Fairfield. We will have another tough contest next week against the Brownsboro Bears who defeated Athens on Friday.
