Dorothy Faye (Keathley) Calame, 81, of Wortham passed away February 26, 2026. After battling courageously to be with her family here, she has been reunited with her husband, Charles, and daughter, Lanette, in the perfection of Heaven prepared for her by our Lord and Savior.

Dorothy was born July 10th, 1944, in Corsicana, Texas, to Andrew Webb and Otsie (Fox) Keathley. She spent her early years in Streetman. Upon marrying the love of her life, Charles Leslie Calame in 1959, they spent the rest of their years together in Wortham. They were blessed with three daughters: Pamela Juanelle, Judy Gail, and Elizabeth Lanette.

Dorothy dedicated many working years to Wortham ISD, serving 25 years from 1974 to 1999, as the “official” secretary to the superintendent, secretary to the principals, attendance clerk, PEIMS coordinator, fill-in nurse, office manager, bus driver, janitor duties; and just about anything else Wortham ISD needed. She loved her work there and came to be loved by countless students who remember her spunk and sass in the office and hallways.

Faith and dedication to First Baptist Church Wortham were pillars in Dorothy’s life for as long as she was physically able. Sunday school, Bible study, singing in the choir, vacation Bible school, youth camp (including riding the zip-line), committees, and being very bossy in the kitchen were among her most treasured times.

Family life was an undeniable passion for Dorothy. She greatly valued family time and put love and affection into birthdays, vacations, and celebrations. Her most favorite time of year was always Christmas, cooking every dish and pie to perfection and making sure the grandchildren, great-grands, and all friends were making memories and being spoiled.

Dorothy was the ultimate grandmother to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be forever remembered for spoiling them on birthdays and Christmas and anytime in between, taking them on simple trips full of laughter and silliness, back-to-school shopping, and cooking her famous chocolate, coconut or lemon meringue pies.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Charles; her parents, Otsie & Andrew Keathley, daughter Lanette Calame and brothers Everett and David Keathley.

She is survived by her daughters Pamela Calame, Judy Chilcoat and husband, Mark Chilcoat; Grandchildren, Annie & Dustin Dean, Blake & Jessica Chilcoat, and Madison and Cooper Thompson; Great-grandchildren, Hudson & Charli Dean, Leslie, Nolan, & Joni Chilcoat, and Delilah Thompson; Brother, Andy Keathley and wife Rosie. And many loved in-laws, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Our family owes a very special thank you to Ms. Nelda Busby for her most sweet and kind help with caring for Dot these last few weeks. We prayed for the perfect angel to come along after her first stroke on January 7th, and God answered in the most wonderful way with Ms. Nelda.

Dorothy’s legacy will forever be her strong faith in her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, her kindness, hard work and service, and her unwavering love for her family and friends. She will be deeply missed by all who were blessed to know her.
