This year’s Dogan Alumni Association walkathon was success.
“We thank all of our walkers, financial supporters and those who were present just to boost us on,” says event Chairperson, Joan Ransom.
Several dignitaries were introduced during opening ceremonies by emcee Tony Brackens, including former Dogan teacher, Irene Slaughter.
Also attending were Mayor Kenny Hughes and Councilman Keith Daniels of the City of Fairfield; City Commissioner Barbara Polk of the City of Streetman; and the Democratic candidate for State Representative – District 8, Wesley Ratcliff.
Participants were put through their paces during a warm-up lead by fitness trainer, Rob Ransom.
Bennie Gabriel blew the whistle at the start, and they were off.
In the end, Stephanie Whitfield – Class of 1972 took home the First place prize. Second place winner was Joe Watson – Class 1976; and Joe’s wife, Sue, came in Third place.
Class of 1976 had the most present and Class of 1972 was next.
“We had walkers in all shapes and sizes, all ages, local participants and many from numerous out of town cities,” says Joan. “Everyone had a great time and we were done before the rain!”
