On Tuesday, October 8, 2019, four lucky first year teachers were awarded the Caroline F. Forsythe Grant-in-Aid Award from Delta Kappa Gamma’s Tau Chapter. Mrs.Martha Kirgan, Tau Chapter Treasurer, is shown awarding the checks.
Ms. Elaine Bearden is the new Freshman and Senior English Teacher at Wortham High School.
Ms. Amanda Theiss and Ms. Traci Houston are beginning their teaching careers at McBay Elementary as Kg teachers in Mexia ISD.
Last, but certainly not least, is Ms. Hannah Spradlin. She is beginning her teaching career at Fairfield Jr. High as a 6th grade teacher.
This is her home and alma mater. She is looking forward to the rest of the school year.
Dr. Lisa Rogers, Tau Chapter president began the meeting with a welcome and opening prayer. Ms. Patty Manley gave the inspiration.
The group had time to order from the delicious menu at The Farmhouse. The restaurant graciously opened their meeting room to the group after the early morning fire at Gibbs Library last month.
Dr. Rogers led three interactive and challenging games teachers can use in any classroom. Two games used a single dice while one game was played like Charades with a new language.
All in attendance were able to take part. Each member was asked to wear pink in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness.
This month, on November 12th at 5 PM, Dr. David Lott will be speaking on “The Secrets of Staying Young.” All teachers in Limestone and Freestone County are encouraged to come and listen to this wonderful presentation. We would love to have you join us.
Any active or retired teacher can sign up for membership. Please come and see what our organization is all about. We are key women educators. If you are one or know one, please refer them to our group.
