It was a full house this past Friday at Tuscan Flair in Fairfield as attorneys from Freestone, Anderson, Leon and Limestone counties took time to wish 87th District Judge Deborah Oakes Evans a happy retirement following twenty years serving on the bench.
Also attending included co-workers, family members, and elected officials.
Her grandsons, especially, appear to look forward to spending more time with her, although she assured the crowd that she would be available to serve as a visiting judge, should the need arise.
Limestone County attorney Amy Thomas Ward (far left) will take over as 87th District Judge in January.
