Settled out of court on November 9, 2018 was the Wrongful Termination and Racial Discrimination civil suit of Dianne Manning vs. Linda Jarvis, individually and in her official capacity as County Clerk of Freestone County.
According to Manning’s Attorney, Chad Morgan, the parties met on November 9th for a court ordered mediation in Singapore.
“The issue was settled on amicable terms,” says Mr. Morgan. “I can’t say any more than that.”
Per Mrs. Jarvis, a Gag Order is in place as part of the settlement terms.
Mrs. Manning originally filed a Petition For Depositions Before Suit against Mrs. Jarvis on April 12th, 2018 and a hearing was scheduled for May 9, 2018 in the 87th District Court.
The case was moved to Federal Court at the United States District Court for the Western District of Texas, Waco Division following the receipt of a Right to Sue letter from the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC).
A Right to Sue Letter is a letter from the EEOC stating that they do not wish to be involved in the case. It allows the parties to continue with the civil case without the EEOC’s involvement.
Representing Mrs. Jarvis was Attorney David Ryan Iglesias with the Texas Association of Counties.
