Dear Editor:

President Trump, in his first day flurry of Executive Orders, begins fleshing out what he thinks will “Make America Great Again”:

– Ending Law and Order by giving approval to violent rioters, including attacking cops, destroying property, and plotting insurrection; signaling these things are now “Okay!”
-Will enact sweeping tariffs, which economic experts say will RAISE PRICES for Americans and fuel Inflation.
– Will ignore “posse comitatus” and assign American Military to law enforcement duties on American soil (no announcement that training in law enforcement will become part of the military’s war-fighting readiness agenda).
– Ignoring Global Climate Change, accepting that extreme climate and weather events … more frequent and destructive and costing Trillions … are now to be accepted as the new “normal.” Expect home insurance to skyrocket, if it’s even available any more.
– Enabling discrimination against American citizens, singled out to lose rights granted by the Constitution.
– Gives lip service to “MERIT” in hiring, while nominating people to work in government whose only “merit” is fierce loyalty to Trump (instead of the Constitution).
– The government will no longer protect American consumers, workers, or citizens, ushering in “buyer beware” and “you’re on your own” in place of regulatory limits on harmful business and corporate (and government) practices.
– Mandating government workers – excepting the President himself – must “show up for work at the office every day” ending “work from home.”
– Government policy ensuring that disinformation, misinformation, and propaganda (including from foreign adversaries) in media and on social media platforms can flourish unhindered.
– Approves the American operation of TicTok, deemed a national security risk due to data mining by an ‘adversarial’ owning nation, China.
– Rejects placing hand on Bible to swear the oath; God taken out of equation.

These are just a few of the first steps Trump has taken to make America “great.” WILL they? Depends, I suppose, on your definition of “great.”
