Dear Editor:
It has been reported that a petition is being circulated which would require a re-vote on the approval of our recent action allowing an increase in the hospital tax rate. Those voters who were opposed to the increase had their chance to show their opinion in that vote. The hospital board held public meetings allowing input from the community. The resulting election was strongly in favor of the rate.
I recently spent a night in the hospital in Fairfield. I had excellent care from the doctors, nurses, and staff. It was great to know I was able to be in my own community, minutes away from my family. My husband and I both used the Emergency Room last month. Once again, we received good care and did not have to travel out of town.
Having a hospital in our town sends a strong message to people and businesses considering relocating to our area. The people have already spoken and it is unnecessary to do it again. We need our hospital.
