Dear Editor,

Thanksgiving is my favorite time of the year; I especially look forward to the 24th in hopes that the election results from the 8th will be a double blessing.

That day we go to vote for various candidates, but the basic issue is far more important than the candidates this year: the stakes are simple and easy to understand:

We vote to correct the direction our government has been going and take back our country to the proven American values that made us great: self-reliance, low taxes/smaller government, personal freedoms, real free speech, family values, education instead of left-wing indoctrination, business incentives instead of restrictions/regulations, secure borders, merit-based qualification instead of forced racial quotas, equal opportunity instead of equal result, saving education from the “blame America first” dogma of Critical Race Theory and Diversity-Equity-Inclusion. The last two listed are as false as anything the left has come up with. OR . . .

Elect socialist Woke candidates for more of the same mismanagement, high taxes, limited personal freedoms, runaway inflation, high crime rates, gender-by-choice instead of factual physiology, wide open borders, weak military, a feeble foreign policy, same-sex marriage as “normal”, more welfare state paid for by working Americans, trying to buy Americans’ votes with stimulus checks, crazy work-killing disincentives of higher pay than working, and “forgiving” student loan debt. This last is a progressive joke; the indebtedness is not forgiven – it’s absorbed into the national debt (more inflation= lower purchasing power). It insults the integrity of all Americans, especially those who never incurred a student loan but now bear its burden and those who borrowed and paid back.

I believe Americans, Texans are smarter than this. That said, if a career political hack can become President of the United States, maybe Beto O’Rourke could become governor of Texas. God forbid! November 8th is at least as important to you and me as the 24th. Please vote and be heard. And have a great Thanksgiving!

God bless America!
