Dear Editor,

I completed this past year teaching at Fairfield Intermediate School.  I finally retired after 41 years in the classroom.

In those 41 years I have taught in Oklahoma, Colorado, and Texas.  I have taught Native-American students, white, black, Hispanic, Asian, and Middle Eastern students.  One year in Dallas when I was teaching ESL, (English as a Second Language), I had 14 different nationalities in my classroom.  I had a Mohammad, Jesus, and Moses in that classroom that year.  I guess I could have turned the character development over to those three boys.  (Just kidding!)

I have taught students from wealthy families, caring families, neglectful parents but sadly, many students who could not afford shoes, school supplies, or a warm winter coat.

However, of all the students I have taught, the boys and girls of Fairfield ISD outshine all the rest.  They are well cared for, well behaved, respectful, polite, and motivated to learn.  My goodness Fairfield parents, you are doing a fantastic job raising your children! Thank you all for making my final year in the classroom such a rewarding and unforgettable time.
