Dear Editor,
Eagles have two more home games left of this football season, and this includes Homecoming. There are very few restaurants that stay open on game nights. These small places become crowded and packed really quickly.
Restaurants should stay open later on these Friday nights, giving students, friends and family a place to sit and eat while enjoying a conversation. They shouldn’t close soon before or soon after the game is over.
Having high school kids driving around while the other team is trying to leave town can be dangerous. By having restaurants open, students and families can stay off the road and out of the way.
Athletes, along with the band, flags, twirlers, and cheerleaders, work hard to entertain the town on Friday nights. After playing a good game, they deserve to sit and eat with friends and family.
If restaurants were open later, some high schoolers could work at these places just to get a few more hours. Most of these high schoolers want to join the crowd at the games, but it takes away from job time if they need to work.
Give Freestone County a place to eat and visit after a good win! It can help keep people safe and off the roads, but it also has many benefits to the restaurants themselves. Not everyone can fill up on nachos and fries at the games, especially if they are involved in the game activities.
