On Sunday, March 30, 2025, a DAR Insignia Headstone Ceremony was held at Drive Cemetery. This ceremony is for members of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution after they have passed.
Nancy Rula was a member of the DAR for 26 years and held several offices. She loved history and did so much for the community and the museum.
The Freestone County Historical Museum Board wanted to do something special for Nancy since she worked tirelessly for the museum as a volunteer. She served on the board for 11 years, and wrote several books that helped fund the museum.
A couple of these books were submitted to the NSDAR National Library in Washington D.C. for approval and were accepted.
Because of Nancy’s work the museum board purchased the insignia for the headstone.
