The Fairfield Lady Eagles had a couple of medalists and the entire team advanced to the state meet on November 12 in Old Settlers Park in Round Rock.
Madison Smith ran a 12:09 to finish third and Morgan Coleman was six seconds behind her in fourth place and both ladies will compete for the individual medals in the state meet. The team claimed the first-place time and with Smith and Coleman are Matilda Ohvo (15th overall), Ashlyn Partain (19th overall), Alexis Rodriguez (26th overall), Braden Bossier (38th overall), and Kara Doyle.
The Fairfield team is followed in the team competition by Liberty Hill and Lampasas.
Teague sophomore Lizette Aguilera finished seventh overall in the 3A girls division and will qualify for the individual medals at the state meet. Abril Arrezola, Mayia Rodriguez, Mary Aguilera, and Elizabelth Perales also competed for the Lady Lions.
Mexia runner Macie Martinez will join the Fairfield runners at the state meet with her 16th place finish on Saturday in Huntsville.
Wortham runners had to pull double duty before and after the meet to finish busy weekends. Sophomore Hallie Fautt finished 46th in the rankings after her cheerleading performance on Friday night in Grapeland and then a playoff warm-up volleyball game Saturday night. Senior Cole Shivers played about 160 snaps on offense and defense Friday night in Grapeland and got in late but went to Huntsville and placed 61st in the 2A boys cross country meet.
The Teague boys competed but did not qualify anyone for the state meet. The participants were Dylan Angel (67th overall), Dustin Angel, Peyton Faulk, Devon Angel, Chance Moore, Morgan Smith and Coltyn Taylor.
