The award-winning director and photographer of the upcoming documentary COWBOYS will lead a discussion of the film Thursday, Sept. 21 at 7 p.m. at the Bush Presidential Library and Museum as an installment of the Library Issues Forum.
Directed by Texas A&M University former student Bud Force and produced by former working cowboy John Langmore, COWBOYS was filmed on locations across the American West featuring historic ranches in Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, Montana, Wyoming and Nevada.
The documentary highlights the lives of the men and women working on “big outfit” cattle ranches through first-hand accounts from the cowboys themselves.
The story explores the rewards and hardships of a celebrated but misunderstood way of life and the challenges that lie ahead for the cowboys and ranches critical to providing the world’s supply of beef.
COWBOYS is currently being filmed and is scheduled for release in 2018.
An award-winning filmmaker based in Austin, Force has been involved in the agriculture industry most of his life. After graduating from Texas A&M University, he has spent the past decade directing and producing commercials, brand films, and documentary shorts.
Langmore is a former working cowboy who spent five years photographing cowboys on 12 of the country’s largest ranches for a project soon to be released as a book: “Open Range – America’s Big Outfit Cowboy.”
The program is free and open to the public, but reservations are required. A reception and book sale and signing will follow the discussion.
Reservations can be made at www.bush41.org/events-listing, email reservations.bush@nara.gov or call 979-691-4014.
