The three Freestone County schools began and ended their playoff run in the first round with each of them playing some of the best teams in the state. Three good teams were eliminated with tough first round draws.

The Teague Lady Lions were swept by the Little River Academy Lady Bees in a series played at Axtell High School.  The first day was met with an opening doubleheader and Academy jumped out to a 2-0 on a home run by Yasmine Turner.

They scored four more from the top of the lineup in the third inning and stretched it to a 9-0 opening game win.

The second game would end in a run-rule finish. The Lady Bees scored five in the first inning and three more in the second to build an 8-0 lead.  KK Cuevos hit a mammoth home run that scored two in the home half of the first and followed that up with a solo shot in the third. The Lady Bees scored 11 of their 13 runs with two outs and Academy kept the separation and would take game two and the series with a 13-3 win.

The Wortham Lady Bulldogs hosted Riesel in the first game in a best of three on Thursday and the top five ranked Lady Indians took a 12-0 win. Riesel scored four runs in the first and the lead remained through the first three. The Lady Bulldogs loaded the base and had the tying run in the batter’s box before Riesel got out of the inning.  Dakota Butler singled, and Madison Newhouse reached base with Emory Russell working her second walk of the game. The Lady Indians stretched the lead and won the game 12-0 in six innings.

The Lady Indians made themselves at home when the series moved to Riesel for game two. The Riesel offense hit six home runs on the day, three by Georgia Tech recruit, Landri Pick and took the best of three series with a 17-2 win.

The Fairfield Lady Eagles advanced into the postseason with a tough one game date with the Lexington Lady Eagles.  Lexington scored two in the bottom of the first, but Allen struck out Bell to get out of the first inning. The Lexington nine did most of the damage and closed out Fairfield with the 15-0 advancing them to the next round.
