The following information is being provided by the Freestone County Sheriff’s Office regarding the summary of statistics for the year 2017.
The FCSO has been very diligent in honoring our oath to protect and serve the citizens of Freestone County and we want to say THANK YOU for the overwhelming support from our citizens and our commissioners that we have received this past year.
–FCSO Dispatchers handled 12,878 total calls for service involving Freestone Co. S.0, Teague PD, Fairfield PD, Wortham PD, Fire Depts., and EMS.
–FCSO Dispatchers received 15,886 total Emergency 911 Calls
–FCSO Deputies completed 477 written reports, 157 for which are considered Major Crimes by the state
that consist of Homicide, Rape, Robbery, Assault, Burglary, Theft, and Vehicle Theft.
–Of the 158 Major Crimes reported, 76 were closed (49 %)
–FCSO Deputies made 498 arrests, 93 of which were on-scene drug related arrests.
–FCSO Deputies initiated 732 traffic stops
–FCSO received 686 Civil Papers and successfully served 514
–FCSO jailers Booked-in a total of 1,011 subjects and Booked-out 996 subjects
–FCSO’s Jail population averaged 33 inmates per day while the average of housed out of county inmates was at 34 per day.
All in all, Freestone County Major Crime Rate is down 21% in 2017 than its average was the last 4 years and our closed case rate stands at 49% which 31% better than the State of Texas average of 18% closer rate.
We are very pleased with these numbers even though we feel like we still have work to do. It’s very reassuring to our department that the new philosophy and plan we have implemented this past year appears to be working and we hope our citizens feel more reassured as well with their Sheriff’s Office.
