Freestone County Commissioners held a Public Hearing on the proposed designation of Reinvestment Zone Number 12 C1 Freestone, LLC Data Center (affiliate of Cyrus One) project on Wednesday, December 3, 2026, and unanimously approved the reinvestment zone.

The project is planned to be built on 507 acres of land near Calpine Power plant. The initial property improvement stage will be a minimum of $600 Million with a 10-year Payment in lieu of taxes (PILOT) of $850,000 per year. The real property improvements investment could generate well over $2 Billion, but could potentially be double that based on the tenant’s property additions such as servers, chips, etc.

–Budget Transfers and Amendments

–Bill Pay

–Payroll

–Reports from Teague Fire Department, County Extension Agent, and County Treasurer

–Special Road Use Agreements

–Bonds & Education Certificates

–Resolution for Public Safety Vehicle Protection Program for FULL Grant from the Criminal Justice Division Texas Governor’s Office ($150,000 for bulletproof windshields, and driver/passenger side windows) for Sheriff Department vehicles

–Authorization of New Year’s Day Firework Sales Dec 20th through January 1st.

The Freestone County Commissioners include Andy Bonner (Pct. 1), Will McSwane (Pct. 2), Richard McGowan (Pct. 3), Clyde Ridge Jr. (Pct. 4), and Lloyd Lane (County Judge).

Their regularly scheduled meetings are held on the first and third Wednesday of each month in the 2nd-floor courtroom.
