At the beginning of the meeting during the public comments, Linda Jarvis’ husband, John, read a statement concerning her resignation in order to dispel rumors and clarify the reasons she chose to leave the office.
“Due to the lack of support from the Commissioners Court and Judge for the County Clerk’s office I would like to submit my resignation effective October 31, 2021. I feel there has been a pattern of being targeted, harassed, discriminated, and retaliated against myself and the County Clerk’s office by some Commissioner Court members and I feel I can no longer perform the duties of the County Clerk’s office under this type of work environment.”
Mr. Jarvis noted that County Clerk Jarvis served the county 20 years, 11 years as County Clerk, and has been involved in conducting over 40 elections during her career. He also stated that, prior to submitting her resignation, Linda Jarvis had planned to run for another term.
