County officials planted a tree in honor of the 100th Anniversary of the Freestone County Courthouse during a celebration held Friday, April 26, 2019.

Vendors from several organizations joined the festivities.  Among them included Fairfield and Teague Public Libraries, Faith Academy, Fairfield History Club, Freestone County Historical Commission, Teague Railroad Museum, Veterans Remembrance Park of Teague, Fairfield Lake State Park, Fairfield and Teague EMS, various Law Enforcement, Freestone Medical Center, Freestone Cancer Support Group, various elected officials., Freestone Central Appriasal District, Soil & Water Conservation District, and many, many more.

A time capsule was prepared for burial.  Citizens had submitted pictures, newspapers, and various merchandize that will be revealed fifty years from now.

County Attorney Brian Evans gave a brief history of the courthouse, and later gave tours of the facility.

Hot dogs were served up by County Sheriff Jeremy Shipley, and a courthouse-themed cake and cookies were available for dessert.

Antique tractors were displayed by Bi-Stone Tractor Club, and the old fire truck was displayed by Freestone County Historical Museum.

Over 250 people were in attendance.
