Last week, during a special called Freestone County Commissioners’ Court, Constable Pct. 3, Richard McGowan, was appointed to fill the vacant Commissioner Pct. 3 position that was recently vacated by Lloyd Lane. The following day, Lloyd Lane was appointed to fill the vacancy of County Judge, previously filled by Linda Grant. Both were sworn in to make it official.
Freestone County Fire Departments presented Judge Grant with a plaque at Monday’s meeting, showing their thanks to her for her service to the County.
“Thank you so much! That is so sweet,” said Jude Grant. “I thank you for all that y’all do. There aren’t enough words to express the true feelings that I have. It has been such a pleasure to be here and such an honor to be able to serve in this position. And I am so thankful for all the volunteers that we have. If we didn’t have y’all, we couldn’t make it.
