Freestone County Commissioners unanimously voted to give $5,000 each to the Fairfield and Teague Public Libraries during a regularly scheduled meeting held Wednesday, July 19, 2017.
Money for these donations come from the annual Capital Credits, funds received for right-of-way usage on County owned easements by various utility companies. There are strict rules on how these funds may be used or distributed, and Commissioner, Pct. 2, Craig Oakes, believes the local libraries should benefit this year.
Bill Madding was selected as the Local Rabies Control Authority for the county. This does not mean that he has taken over animal control duties. He will only be investigating cases where an animal bite has occurred.
Also at this meeting, Commissioners unanimously voted to approve the following:
–Accept bids for the 2018 Fiscal Year on road material, bulk fuel, and solid waste
–Renew TAC Insurance Coverage effective October 1, 2017 for Auto Liability & Physical Damage, General Liability, Public Officials Liability, and Law Enforcement Liability
–Leave the burn ban off for the time being
–Lower the Private Exchange Plan Options for employee medical insurance from ten plan options, down to five; using the five that employees are currently utilizing. Ridding of the five plans not being used will save the county money.
Regularly scheduled Commissioners Court meetings are held on the first and third Wednesdays of each month beginning at 9:00 a.m. The public is invited and encouraged to attend.
