FOOD PRESERVATION
McLennan County Extension Service and McLennan Community College Continuing Education are hosting the “Food Preservation Workshop” at the Extension Office located at 4224 Cobbs Drive, Waco Texas 76710 on Saturday, September 28, 2024, from 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
This hands-on class will teach you to prepare and can food in a water bath canner and pressure canner. Instructor Rachel Esquivel, in partnership with Texas A&M AgriLife Extension, will teach you how to prepare foods and jars, following a tested and approved recipe, and can foods in the class that will be finished and ready to take home at the end.
You will learn about different types of canners and how to prepare different high acid foods including fruits, tomatoes, jams, jellies, and pickled products. Home canning of your own produce as ingredients can be a very economical way to serve healthy meals for your family. The cost for this class is $50.00.

McLennan County Extension Service along with McLennan Community College Continuing Education are hosting the “Cooking with Friends” class at the County Extension office located at 4224 Cobbs Drive, Waco Texas 76710 on Saturday, October 5, 2024 from 9:00am-12:00pm.The instructor will be Rachel Esquivel, CEA FCH.
The goal of the program is to help provide knowledge and skills required to plan, prepare, freeze, and cook healthy, safely, and effectively. You will receive 3 freezer meals each containing 6-8 servings.

5:00p.m.-7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, October 8, 2024.
The Cooking with Cultures course aims to educate participants on nutrition, food safety, and healthy cooking techniques via interest in cultural cuisine. It also aims to expand ingredients and techniques familiar to participants to increase confidence when cooking diverse recipes.
The cost of this class is $35.00.

Join instructor Rachel Esquivel with Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service and learn how to make quick and delicious sides for your holiday gatherings. This workshop will help you make tasty dishes in less time with less clean-up for all your family events, allowing more quality time with your loved ones.
