Freestone County Commissioners officially accepted the retirement of Judge Linda Grant, effective September 15, 2025, at 5:00 p.m. during their special called meeting held Tuesday, September 9, 2025.

Judge Grant then read a letter of resignation from Commissioner, Pct. 3, Lloyd Lane (at right), effective as of September 15, 2025. The reason given was that ‘a sitting Commissioner cannot be considered for appointment to the position of County Judge.’
“Whether appointed or not, I still plan to file for candidacy in December for the 2026 election,” explained Commissioner Lane.

–Payroll
–Acceptance of Reports from Extension Office, JP 1 & 3, Senior Services, and County Clerk
–Second installment of TDA HDM Grant Funds in the amount of $7,025.31 for Senior Services
–New vendor for background checks for elections workers and employees
–List of Election Judges and Alternates
–Notice of Election
–Notice of Polling Place Changes
Commissioners hold their regularly scheduled meetings on the first and third Wednesday of each month, beginning at 9:00 a.m. in the second floor Courtroom.
