The City of Fairfield, at it’s March 10, 2026, council meeting, voted to present a contract to Douglas Key for the position of City Administrator.
Following an executive session where several topics were discussed, Council members voted to present a 1-year contract, with the option to extend for an additional year, with a salary of $97.5 thousand per year, three-week vacation, and insurance to start immediately.
Once the contract is accepted by Key, The ‘Times’ will follow up with an article introducing him to the community.
In addition, following the executive session, Harold Markham was promoted to the position of Assistant Chief of Police for the Fairfield Police Department. His salary was increased to $29 per hour.
Also at this meeting, Council approved a salary increase for Public Works Department employees and an amendment to the Standard Operation Procedures for the Police Department by adding department general orders.
Fairfield City Council’s regular meetings are scheduled for the second Tuesday of each month, beginning at 5:30 p.m. at Fairfield City Hall located at 527 E. Commerce in Fairfield.
