“There are so many people in the area with great skills and connections,” said Freestone County Commissioner, Pct. 3, Lloyd Lane. “When those minds come together, we can do great things.”

This said in response to the many community members, officials, and organizations that came together to assist City of Streetman residents when a massive leak drained the water tower, leaving residents with no water on Friday, June 27, 2025.

Crews and volunteers gathered to walk the water line grid looking for the leak and eventually located it on Hwy 75 in a creek.

Once the leak was repaired, it took a while for the water tower to be refilled, and a boil notice was issued, but has since been rescinded after laboratory testing showed it is safe for use.

Freestone County Commissioner, Pct. 4, Clyde Ridge, and his wife, Dana Pillans Ridge, with the help of Deanna Emmons, contacted Brookshire Brothers of Fairfield where Assistant Store Director, Tina Robison, greatly discounted the cost of a full palette (62 cases) of bottled water to help residents. Barry Capps of Capps Ag Center aided by having one of his employees, Michael, load the water onto a trailer with a forklift.

Commissioner Ridge then contacted Navarro County Commissioner, Pct. 3, Eddie Moore (at top), and notified him of the water issue because his precinct borders Streetman city limits. Commissioner Moore contacted H.E.B. in Corsicana, where store manager Leslie, donated a full palette of bottled water, free of charge, to the cause.

Commissioner Lane contacted Randy Rogers of Texas Drum and Container who loaned four 300-gallon water storage containers to be filled with non-potable water for residents’ use.

Adam Chavers at Lyles provided additional resources as well.

“I’m just glad and thankful it was taken care of so quickly,” concluded Commissioner Ridge.
