It’s December and the holidays are in full swing!!

As testament to that, Freestone County has lots to offer this month, with a ton of fun in the first week alone. Here’s what you can do to enhance the joy of the holiday season:

 

Visit with Santa & Chili Supper in Wortham
Wednesday, Dec. 4th

Beginning at 6:00 p.m., Santa Claus will be visiting with kids at the Christmas Tree at Main and 2nd in Wortham.

(Note:  in case of rain, cookies and Santa will move to the Chamber building.)

Also, the Fire Department will be having their annual Chili Supper at the Fire Station. Plates will be $10 each. Come get some great dinner and contribute to a great cause.

at Trinity Star Art Gallery in Fairfield
Thursday, Dec. 5th

From 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., come enjoy the wonder of electric trains, a Christmas village, student Christmas art, performances by Fairfield Eagle Choir and harpist Diane Repp, and cheese & wine.

 

Parade of Lights in Teague
Thursday, Dec. 5th

This year’s parade will begin at 6:00 p.m., and meander down Main Street in Teague, followed by the Lighting of Christmas in the Park (8th Ave).

Note:  Due to the bad weather (and the need to inspect electrical connections) Park Lighting Display is rescheduled to Sunday evening.

Hamburger Supper ($10 per plate) will be served at Teague Community Center from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., hosted by FUMC of Teague.

Santa will be at the B-RI Railroad following the parade to visit with the kiddos. Be sure to bring their Christmas list to show Santa!

Friday, Dec. 6th

Bring the kids for a visit with Santa & Mrs. Claus at the Teague Public Library from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Join them for hot chocolate and cookies!

Beginning at 9:00 a.m., the Big Guy, Santa Claus, will be at the church to breakfast with the kids and have a jolly good time.

Christmas on the Square &
A Hometown Christmas Parade in Fairfield
Saturday, Dec. 7th

Fairfield Chamber of Commerce and Visitors Center, together with the City of Fairfield, invite the community to attend its annual Christmas on the Square for a jolly good time!

This event will be held from 3:00-7:00 p.m. at the Courthouse Square.

Schedule of Events:

–3:00 – Parade Lineup at Fairfield Elementary School

–3:30 to 7:00 – Christmas on the Square Celebration with vendors, food, crafts, face painting, ballon artist, wagon rides and more

–3:30 – Christmas Story reading with Bettye Trask

–4:00 – Home for the Holidays Parade

–4:30 to 7:00 – River of Life Petting Zoo

–5:00 to 7:00 – Visit with Santa

–5:30 – Community Entertainment Performances

–6:15 – Christmas Tree Lighting

–6:30 – River of Life Christmas Drama Performance

Jack Sanders, Classical Guitarist, Performs in Streetman
Sunday, Dec. 8th

Beginning 6:30 p.m. at Lakeside United Methodist Church, professional guitarist, Jack Sanders will perform a free concert, hosted by Trinity Star Arts Council. The church is located at 515 FM 416, Streetman. ALL are welcome!

At top:  A quick drive around town reveals that Santa’s reindeer have taken up residence on the lawn of the Freestone County courthouse and in front of the Fairfield Municipal building. Santa Claus will be visiting Fairfield this Saturday, December 7, 2024.
