Texas Lions Camp is a summer camping facility dedicated to serving children from the State of Texas with physical disabilities, Down Syndrome, Cancer, and Type 1 Diabetes.
The camp is located on over 500 acres of hills and woodlands in the beautiful Texas Hill Country.
Programs at Texas Lions Camp offer campers a chance to try new activities and create long-lasting friendships while developing greater self-esteem and independence.
Children eligible to participate in the summer camp program must be between the ages of seven and sixteen and have a qualifying physical disability.
Children with Type 1 Diabetes must be between the ages of eight and fifteen, and campers with Down Syndrome must be twelve to sixteen years old.
Texas Lions camp is a non-profit organization funded by the Lions Clubs of Texas and other caring individuals.
All children attend camp at no cost to them or their families.
The Texas Lions Camp is accredited by the American Camp Association (ACA) and is licensed by the Texas Department of State Health Services.
–Qualifying disabilities include Absences (arms, hands, legs, all four extremities), Achondroplasia, Albino, Amputee (arms, hands, legs, all four extremities), Arthritis, Arthrogryposis, Asthma, Ataxia, Atonic Diplegia, Benign Hereditary Chorea, Bowing of Legs, Brachial Plexus, Burns, Cancer, Cataracts, Cerebellar Ataxia, Cerebral Palsy, Charcot-Marie-Tooth, Chiari Malformation, Cleft Palate, Club Hand/Club Foot, Congenital Deformity, Congenital Dislocation of Hips, Congenital Gait Disturbance, Cystic Fibrosis, Cutaneous Mastocytosis, Dwarfism, Epilepsy, Familial Chorea, Glaucoma, Cleft Lip (Hare Lip), Head Injury, Hearing Impaired, Heart Conditions, Hemihypertrophy, Hydrocephalus, Hypotonia, Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis, Legg-Calve-Perthes, Lupus, Multiple Sclerosis, Muscle Impaired, Muscle Tone Loss, Muscular Dystrophy, Narcolepsy, Neurofibromatosis, Paraplegia, Phocomelia, Polio, Retinitis Pigmentosa, retinopathy of Prematurity, Rickets, Sarcoma, Sacral Agenesis, Scleroderma, Scoliosis, Seizure Disorder, Sickle Cell Anemia, Spastic Diplegia, Spastic Paraplegia, Spinal Muscular Atrophy, Spina Bifida, Spinal Cord Injury, Spine Kyphosis, Spondylarthritis, Static Encephalopathy, Stroke, Tuberous Sclerosis, Tumors, and Vision Impaired.
–Diseases that qualify are Addison’s, Leigh’s, Batten, Blount’s, and Cushings.
–Qualifying Syndromes include Apert, Caudal Regression, Crouzon, Guillain-Barre, Loey-Dietz, Mobius, Noonan’s, Prader Willi, Short Bowel, Treacher Collins, Usher, and Down (separate camp from physical disability camp).
