Chuck’s first job was as a busboy for the family owned Awalt’s Restaraunt. Through the years, Chuck worked at a service station, and with a surveyor. He began working for the local telephone company and retired in May of 2016, after 36 years.

On August 20, 1989, Chuck married Shelly Dawn Mulhollan in Reno, Nevada. They were blessed to have a daughter and a son.

Chuck enjoyed raising his children and was actively involved in all of their activities. He was a “father” to many other young people.

Chuck loved Fairfield Eagles and one of his greatest pleasures was being a part of the “chain gang” on Friday nights. He loved baseball, and especially the Texas Rangers.

He had a green thumb, and always took pride in making his yard beautiful.

He was an active member of the Fairfield church of Christ. The church family was a very important part of his life.

Throughout his life, Chuck volunteered for various organizations. He was a reserve police officer, a volunteer fireman and worked on the ambulance service. He was awarded Volunteer of the Year in 2003 by the City of Fairfield.

After his retirement, Chuck enjoyed volunteering at the Fairfield Elementary School. He went early every morning, and opened car doors to make sure the students were safely inside. He loved the children and they loved him.

He is survived by his wife, Shelly of Fairfield, Texas, daughter Rebecca Corbett and husband Brady of Abilene, Cullen Lyles, and fiancée Sarai Mesa of Huntsville, and brother Ronnie Lyles and wife Andrea of Grand Prairie, Texas.

He will be missed by his wife’s family, and numerous nieces, and nephews.
