TSAC’s 2019 Season a Success
Trinity Star Arts Council (TSAC) was formed in 2009 as a non profit dedicated to benefitting educational and cultural arts in the area. Its goal is to benefit citizens by providing opportunities to engage in arts related activities and to be entertained by them. TSAC is supported through donations by patrons, event sponsorships and grants. Directors and Advisors donate their time and talents to making quality programs that impact the community.
TSAC’s main program focus is on area students.
In February ArtsPower Children’s Touring Theater presented ‘YOUR ALIEN’, a musical about friendships, at the Teague High Theater. Fairfield, Teague, Dew, Wortham and Faith Academy intermediate students were in attendance. This program impacted over 1200 students and there was great cooperation among the schools to bus students to the Teague venue.
TSAC presented four $1,000 scholarships to students from Wortham, Teague and Fairfield who were chosen on merit and are pursuing degrees in the ARTS.
TSAC gave scholarships to deserving students attending the annual Fairfield Summer Drama Camp. TSAC was instrumental in encouraging the development of Fairfield’s Eagle Choir through stipends to the instructors. TSAC donated to the Fairfield Library in an effort to reach young audiences through Christmas story times. A Fall Fairfield Fest craft program engaged young children using creative ways to decorate pumpkins.
In October TSAC brought acclaimed Children’s Author Marsha Dianne Arnold to the Fairfield Elementary and Intermediate Campuses for presentations of two of her award winning books, THE PUMPKIN RUNNER and GALAPAGOS GIRL. Over 1000 students were treated to her descriptive stories and encouraged to pursue their own creative writing. Ms. Arnold was honored at an Author Tea at the Fairfield Library along with students who had written books.
Some of the events TSAC sponsored for community enjoyment of the ARTS included DUELING PIANOS, GILLIGAN’S ISLAND , a production brought to Teague High Theater, performed by the Palestine Theater Group in collaboration with TSAC, AN EVENING WITH FANNY CROSBY, presented at Lakeside United Methodist Church, the TSAC annual fundraiser, NIGHT AT THE RACES and finally the annual holiday open house at the Williford Gallery featuring works of art from the Graham Williford Foundation and music by the Eagle Choir.
It’s been a busy, yet rewarding year and the board and advisors hope their efforts have brought an appreciation of all forms of the ARTS to Freestone county and beyond.
