Carlton R. Rischer left this earth on June 21, 2018 in Fairfield, Texas.
Services for Mr. Rischer were held Saturday, June 30, 2018 at Jones Chapel United Methodist Church of Fairfield.
Interment followed at Rhode Island Cemetery.
Mr. Rischer was born on January 9, 1945 in Freestone County to Joe Columbus Rischer and Katie Mae Smith Rischer. He was the fifth of thirteen children.
He was raised in the Rode Island Community and graduated from Dogan High School in 1963.
Mr. Rischer accepted Christ at an early age, united with Rhode Island United Methodist Church and later Rhode Island UMC consolidated with Jones Chapel UMC. He was a life member and was very active in the church.
He attended Bishop College in Dallas after high school. Following college, he enlisted in the military from 1965 through 1967.
Next he attended Barber College in Fairfield and later opened his barber shop and barbeque business… simply called “Carlton’s.”
Mr. Rischer was also employed with Big Brown Power Plant for twenty years while running his business.
After retiring from Big Brown, he was employed with Cole’s Barbeque for fifteen years.
Mr. Rischer was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Horace E. Rischer, Bobby Rischer, Wanice Rischer, Vernice Rischer Foster, and Mervie J. Rischer Chandler.
Those left to cherish his memory are his son, Tarrance R. Rischer; 4 grandchildren: Tarrance Rischer, Jr., Tiara Rischer, Devin Rischer, and Maddison Rischer, all of Fairfield; brothers: George O. Rischer of Streetman, Jimmy (Robby) Rischer of Dallas, and Columbus Rischer, Jr. of Fairfield; sisters: Betty Rischer Jones of Fairfield, Vera Rischer Minor of Ft. Worth, Katie M. Rischer of Dallas, and Carol Rischer McDonald of Ft. Worth; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
