Candidate filings for City Council and School Board will be accepted starting next week.
Filing period to place your name on the ballot for these entities runs from Wednesday, January 13 to Friday, February 12, 2021.
Elections will be held on Saturday, May 1, 2021.
Positions up for election include the following:
CITY COUNCIL
–City of Fairfield
Councilman – Place 3, Place 4 and Place 5. These positions are currently held by Landis Bayless, Bobby Nichols, and Angela Oglesbee (appointed).
–City of Teague
Alderman – Place 2, Place 4 and Place 5. Currently holding these positions are Rhonda Jones, Chris Nickleberry and Ryan Mathis.
–City of Wortham
Councilman – Mayor and two Places At Large. This include Mayor Pellie Goolsby and Councilmen Cliff NeSmith and Scott Batts.
–City of Streetman
Streetman holds elections only on even years. Next election will be in 2022.
SCHOOL DISTRICT
–Fairfield ISD
Two Places At Large. Trustees whose terms are expiring this year include Eric Chavers and Kirby Capps Flandry.
–Teague ISD
Place 5, Place 6 and Place 7. These positions are currently held by Brett Myers, Jason Hullum, and Mary Clary-Smith.
–Wortham ISD
Place 1 and Place 2. Currently holding these positions are Billy Perez and Doug Miller.
–Dew ISD
Dew ISD normally holds elections in November.
