A burn ban was issued during the Wednesday, June 17, 2020 Freestone County Commissioner’s Court meeting.
A burn ban now does not require another meeting to be rescinded, but instead may be rescinded by the County Judge, Judge Linda Grant at this time.
The court approved an application for the Coronavirus Emergency Supplemental Funding (CESF) Program.
This national program helps by supplying funds to prepare for, prevent and respond to COVID-19.
Funds may be used for things such as, supplies, equipment, overtime, and much more.
An application for participation in the Law Enforcement Support Office (LESO) Program was approved during the meeting.
The LESO Program allows the Department of Defense to transfer excess property to law enforcement agencies across the United States.
This saves items from being destroyed, and instead gives them a new home and use.
Included items can range from office supplies to clothing, with only about 5% of the items being for small arms and less than one percent being tactical vehicles.
Nine names for the Salary Grievance Committee were drawn (although only three people from the community are needed at this time.): Earl Lilley, Sybil Burrell, Threllas Banks, Robin Woodall, Roy Mora, Amanda Newman, Jerry Long, Jason Smith, and Candace Von-Sehrwald.
Sick leave pool members are the same as last year, Elected Official – Mike Daniels, Jail Representative – Mary McDonald, Courthouse Representative – Chris Ivey, Road and Bridge – Jack Withers, and Committee Administrator – Allison French.
