The Bremond Tigers scored off a pair of Wortham turnovers in the second quarter and maintained a comfortable lead through the second half in a 60-30-win Friday night at Tiger Field.

The Bulldogs return home on Friday to take on the Mart Panthers, leaders of District 10-2A Division II.

The game had tons of offense, but the Tigers took advantage of three Bulldog turnovers, turning all three into scores to make the game an eventual rout.

Bremond took the ball first and put up a quick score with 9:30 remaining in the first quarter. Sophomore running back scored on a nine-yard run and the Tigers completed a seven-play drive, all on the ground. Tank Scott scored on the conversion run and the Tigers had the early 8-0 lead.

Wortham matched the score in grand fashion on the arm of senior quarterback Jon Ross Black. Facing a third and seven from their 30, Black launched a pass and senior Kymani Johnson ran under it and raced for the end zone, completing the 70-yard touchdown. Black passed to Evan McCoslin for the conversion and the score was tied 8-8 near the midpoint of the first quarter.

Tiger defender Tristan Morehead picked off a Wortham pass and returned it to the Bulldog 20. Tank Scott scored the first of his four touchdowns on the night. The 12-yard touchdown and conversion put the Tigers back in the lead 16-8.

A short punt set the Tiger offense at the Bulldog 42, and they needed only two plays for Tank Scott to score on a 31-yard blast up the middle. He also added the conversion run and the lead grew to 24-8 in the first minute of the second quarter.

Tank had a 17-yard punt return into Bulldog territory and they started another drive in Wortham territory near midfield. The 13-play drive ended with a Tank Scott two-yard run. Sam Kasowski ran in the conversion and the Bremond stretched the lead to 32-8.

The Bulldog offense turned the ball over on downs in the final two minutes of the half and Bremond took advantage of that and scored on the final play of the half. In the wildcat formation, Tank Scott took the direct snap and scored his fourth touchdown on a two-yard run. The point after failed and the Tigers had a 38-8 halftime lead.

Wortham fumbled on their first possession of the second half and Bremond scored in one play to push the lead to 44-8.

Yancey Bean returned the kickoff 54 yards deep in Bremond territory and Black scored on a quarterback keeper. He passed to Johnson for the conversion to cut the lead to 44-16.

Bremond quickly answered on a Xavier Clark interception returned to the Bulldog 12 and he caught the touchdown pass and completed the score with the conversion run to build the lead to 52-16.

Wortham scored a pair of touchdowns to make the game a bit interesting. On a kickoff return, Johnson returned it 68 yards to the Bremond 15 and Black would score on a four-yard run but the conversion failed, and the Bulldogs cut the lead to 52-22.

Nathan Chasteen recovered a fumble, and the Bulldogs made quick work of the turnover. Black threw a jump ball to tight end James Johnson and leaped and grabbed it at its highest point and raced to score the 59-yard touchdown. Johnson added the conversion run to put the Bulldogs down three scores 52-30.

Tyriq Scott added a Bremond touchdown in the final quarter and the teams elected to go with a running clock in the fourth quarter and the Bulldogs were inside the Bremond ten when the final seconds ticked off.

Goldthwaite and Mart lead the district race with a pack of teams at 1-1, including the Bremond Tigers and Wortham Bulldogs.
