The Wortham Bulldogs trailed at halftime and neither team returned to open the second half and the Dallas First Baptist Academy Saints left the historic wall with a 34-0 win.
The weather was a factor and the teams went to the halftime break expecting a lightning delay. The lightning threw the game into a delay during halftime, so the teams stayed in the locker room. The weather remained in the area and the school officials and referees called the game and neither team came out for the second half.
The Bulldogs had 44 yards of total offense and received three first downs on 50 yards in Saints penalties in the loss. Wortham also suffered five turnovers.
Dallas First Baptist Academy took the ball first and wasted little time getting on the board. Senior quarterback Jack Kristofek completed his first pass on the opening play for 40 yards to Carson Horner. The Bulldog defense recovered a fumble inside the five-yard line. Deshawn Cooley coughed up the ball and Lane McDaniel covered it in the endzone and the Bulldogs took over.
Wortham suffered some injuries in the opening week and junior running back Riley Baker got the start in the backfield. He ran the ball hard, but the Bulldog offense was outmanned and could not get going. They turned the ball over on a fumble at the 24-yard line.
Kristofek needed only one play to put the Saints on the board. He completed a pass to Gene Wilson III and the play covered those 24 yards for the early 6-0 lead.
Following a Bulldog punt and a Saint penalty, the Saints began deep in their own territory at the 12-yard line. On first down, he connected with Horner for the 88-yard catch and run. Cooley added the conversion run for a 14-0 lead.
The Bulldogs fumbled the kickoff and the Saints went back to work. Two completed passes, the final one to Jacob Aquirre for a 20-yard touchdown score and a 20-0 lead at the end of the first quarter.
A short punt put the Saints back in position to score. Horner caught a 38-yard touchdown pass for a 28-0 lead and Jackson Mewbourn added another from 19 yards.
Kristofek completed nine of 18 passes for 256 yards and five touchdowns.
The Bulldogs have begun the season 0-2 and they will take to the road to take on the Bartlett Bulldogs in the first meeting between the two schools. Bartlett lost their first two games to Hubbard and Dawson and enter the game with a matching 0-2 record.
