You might not think of Japanese pottery and life coaching would fit in the conversation, but the beauty of such imagery becomes evident, after a visit with Rebecca Orms, CPC, CPLC.

Broken & Beloved Coaching recently opened its doors in the new Taylor building in Fairfield, Texas located at 526 E. Commerce, Suite A.

Rebecca’s business card, and her website, feature the beautiful, cracked lines of Kintsugi, the Japanese art of repairing broken pottery with seams of gold.

The practice makes the object even more beautiful and valuable than it was prior to being broken.

Rebecca believes the same can be said for women’s lives.

“Broken & Beloved was birthed in that all of us, in our lives, have some area that has been broken, or we go through times when we feel very broken,” said Rebecca.

“The beloved part comes from the fact that, regardless of what we have done or what we have walked out, we are all His beloved,” she continued. “God loves us and desires for us to walk out of suffering and trauma to find Him.”

Rebecca Orms began her training at the Christian Coach Institute, an ICG Accredited coach training school. “That’s like a generalist,” she said, explaining that life coaching is often helpful when someone is ready to make a transition, such as a new career. It can also help in training to become more mindful or self-aware.

However, because of some groups and the bible studies she had done, Rebecca began to see the need to go further and become trauma informed. “My heart became drawn to betrayal trauma and grief recovery,” she said.

According to Rebecca, betrayal trauma is defined as a breaking of attachment in a relationship, and often comes through unfaithfulness, that can come in various forms. “That causes a wound,” she said.

“Our closest relationship is with another partner,” Rebecca continued. “It’s one of our most intimate of relationships.”

Trauma can also develop over time, because of what are called “lacks.” Rebecca explained, “That’s the things we needed – maybe in childhood or in a relationship – that we are not getting,”

“There’s none of us that go unscathed,” when it comes to trauma, said Rebecca. And, it is something that needs to be worked out.

“When we don’t walk it out, we carry it in our physical body,” she said, explaining that, “the neurosystem actually keeps record [of trauma].”

Most importantly, traumas need to be worked out in communities that feel safe to share our stories. “Then we’re able to heal,” said Rebecca. “That is really where my heart is,” she said, to offer that space “where we can feel God’s grace.”
