Do you love trains? Especially old ones – old ones that are really big?


Good news then, Union Pacific will be rolling through Texas and into Jewett, TX Saturday, November 9th 2019 with their Big Boy steam locomotive No. 4014.


From 11:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. the locomotive will be at the Division Street Crossing.


Jewett Historical Museum and the Jewett area Chamber of Commerce has partnered together are also offering activities to go along with this event.


The locomotive will head to Palestine, Tx for an overnight stay after leaving Jewett.


The Great Race Across the Southwest is the trip the locomotive is taking from El Paso, Texas to Cheyenne, Wyoming throughout November 2019.

This trip was planned in celebration of the 150th Anniversary of the Transcontinental Railroad’s completion.

Union Pacific put two years of meticulous work into the restoration of the Big Boy steam locomotive No. 4014, the only world’s only operation Big Boy.

Make sure you stand back 25 feet if you are lucky enough to see it riding along the train track.
