Kick off summer with a juicy pork or beef BBQ sandwich with chips and all the trimmings at the Winkler Masonic Lodge’s “BBQ, Bake Sale & Backyard Fun!” fundraiser event scheduled for Saturday, May 28, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. This event is held every year to raise money for the Lodge’s next year’s scholarships of $1000 each to be awarded to four graduating seniors from Fairfield High School.
In addition to scrumptious BBQ lunches (provided by Big T’s) and delightful baked goods, several games–including sack races, bean bag toss, egg carry and a coloring station for little ones–will keep youngsters entertained. Kids’ activities start at 10:30 a.m. and go until about 1 p.m.
During the all-day Open House, there will be a booth including information about the Lodge’s scholarship program, and other booths will share information about other FM 416 community organizations.
The Lodge will be selling tickets for three different guns to be awarded to some lucky winner this fall, just before deer season starts. Tickets are $20 each or three for $50 and will be sold at the May 28th event and throughout the summer, with the drawing to be held at the Lodge on Tuesday, October 25, 2022 at a time to be announced.
Lodge #826 is located at 9986 FM 416, about 10 miles west of the 488/416 intersection or ten miles east of Streetman.
Winkler Lodge members express their appreciation to the Community Care Club, Backroad Bakery, The Southsider, Mexia True Value and Columbia Meats for helping to make this event a success.
