The family of the late Coach Kent Bachtel traveled to Midway High School on Friday night, October 6, 2017 as he was inducted into the MHS Athletic Hall of Fame.
Bachtel’s wife, Jamie, was presented the plaque at centerfield during the game’s halftime, as her family looks on, including Fairfield High School Athletic Director, John Bachtel.
Coach Kent Bachtel became the Head Coach for the Midway Panthers in 1986.
In 1992, the Panthers won their first District Championship in 30 years, advancing to the State Semi-Finals in 1997 and 1999.
In 2008, Coach Bachtel was named Super Centex Coach of the Year.
Upon retiring in 2009, “Papa” Bachtel coached part-time with his son, John, of the Fairfield Eagles, helping to team reach the State Championship in 2013.
Kent Bachtel passed away in September of 2015.
