Football (and Volleyball) season is almost here, and the pandemic is still very much here, so while the game will go on, it may look a bit different.
Fairfield has released their plans for fans that plan to attend their football and volleyball games, and how they will adhere to the state guidelines and CDC guidelines.
Varsity Football
They are restricted to a fifty percent capacity, and that means there will only be enough seating for around 1,200 to 1,500 fans together between home and visitor at the stadium.
The Friday, August 20, 2020 scrimmage is not even allowing fans to visit.
For fans that are unable to make the games, the school district plans to live stream all home games at no cost, and they will attempt to live stream away varsity games, if Wi-Fi permits.
Visitors may not go to the track or the field, and once the game is concluded fans are asked to leave the stadium.
Facial coverings are to be worn upon entering or exiting the facility and in all situations, that social distancing is not possible.
Another change will be designated seating, with each spot accommodating two individuals.
While the band will not be in the stands at home or away games, they will be at the games.
Homes game tickets have a few rules:
–No reserved seating
–Ticket prices are $5.00 for the varsity games
–No passes allowed at the gate
–Tickets are pre-sale only with each participating student allowed to purchase two tickets for each varsity home game.
–Remaining tickets will be sold to the public in a first come, first served manner.
Remember, seating in blocks of two, so purchase tickets accordingly.
Fans may not congregate along the fence, and children are not allowed to roam and play.
Away games may have lower seating with tickets not available to all the students/fans.
Tickets are received from the opponent, and will be distributed (sold) accordingly.
All other Football Games
Social distancing, mask requirements and seating are the same as the Varsity games.
The main differences between Varsity and non-Varsity are:
–Tickets will be $3.00 for Seventh, Eighth, Ninth, and Junior Varsity games
–If the crowds require it, the bleachers may need to be vacated between games.
High School Volleyball
Facial Coverings and Social Distancing rules are the same as they are for football.
Once a game is over, all fans will be asked to leave the gym.
Tickets will be available for purchase at the gym, and passes accepted at home games.
Seating areas may be blocked off when necessary.
The south gym has a higher seating capacity, and may be used more frequently.
No congregating in the foyer.
Away games will have limited seating, access could be denied at some locations.
Tickets for the 20-3A games for Teague, Groesbeck, Elkhart, and Westwood will be pre-sale only, with no tickets purchased at the game.
Junior High Volleyball
The Junior High Gyms have limited seating and will not be used often. Most games will be played at the High School.
That is the only difference between High School and Junior High Volleyball games.
