A training class for the new MLD Landowner Management Assistance website will be held in Fairfield this Friday, August 11, 2017 at the Conference Center from 1:00 – 6:00 p.m.
In short, TPWD has chosen to retire the LAMPS program and the former 3-level Managed Lands Deer Program (MLDP).
This year there will be 2 options for landowners to request deer tags: Harvest Option and Conservation Option.
Landowners can simply create an account on our Landowner Management Assistance (LMA) website, draw their property, and enroll in either option.
The Harvest Option is most similar to LAMPS, is completely automated online, does not require deer surveys, a wildlife management plan, or TPWD biologist assistance. The Harvest Option allows for doe tags only, buck tags only, or both.
The Conservation Option is most like the original 3-Level MLDP and requires prior survey data, harvest data, and habitat management practices for a landowner to be eligible. The landowner will conduct deer surveys and the biologist will issue tags based on the estimated deer population.
This class will assist landowners/hunters in signing up for the new Manage Lands Deer Program. It will be led by TPWD Wildlife Biologist Taylor Garrison.
