Daniels Exxon in Teague was the target of an aggravated robbery Thursday, July 27th when a man in a ski mask entered the convenience store brandishing a handgun.
According to Teague Chief of Police Dan Ramsey, at approximately 8:30 p.m. officers responded to calls that an armed man had approached the store clerk at Daniels Exxon, located on North 4th Avenue, demanding money.
The suspect reportedly fled the scene traveling north toward 4th and Cedar Streets with over $100.
Fortunately, no one was injured.
Officers Kayln Tieman and Jason Morgan, and Lieutenant DeWayne Philpott arrived to secure the scene and canvas the area for any sign of the assailant. Officers were able to collect latent prints from the scene, which have been sent off for analysis.
Chief Ramsey reports that the department is working to identify the suspect, reviewing the store’s video surveillance and speaking to witnesses in the area.
The Teague Police Department will be increasing patrol throughout the city. Merchants in the surrounding area have been notified to stay vigilant and report any suspicious activity.
“There’s nothing in the shop that’s worth your life,” urged Chief Ramsey, “Cooperate and provide them with what they ask for. Property can be replaced.”
