The Argyle Eagles built a seven-point lead at the half and a big third period allowed the Eagles to pull away from the Azle Hornets in the final of the Fairfield Eagle Invitational Basketball Tournament.

Hutch Burns scored five in the opening period and the Eagles led 10-0 and forced an Azle timeout. The closed the lead a bit but the Eagles built a 16-7 lead at the end of the first period. Trey Utter hit a three pointer in the second period and the teams battled defensively in a low scoring quarter. Azle trimmed two points off the first period lead and trailed 23-16 at intermission.

Wayne Pitts, Burns and Utter each hit from long distance and keyed a run that put the Eagles ahead by double digits. They scored on four of their final six possessions and took control of the game 41-22 at the end of three. Azle scored on three straight possessions to open the final period and cut into the lead but the Argyle Eagles quickly countered with Canian Galentine scoring on three possession to hold the lead and win the tournament 59-36.
