Long Live the Cowboy – June 16-21, 2025

 

The 103rd Annual Freestone County Fair and Rodeo will be here before you know it and this year’s theme is ‘Long Live the Cowboy.’

The week-long event kicks off on Monday, June 16, 2025, with the annual parade through town, beginning at 7:00 p.m.

-Parade

Be sure to get your parade float/entry registered as soon as possible to participate in this year’s event. It is free to participate. Register at https://www.fcfar.org/events-and-activities.

Ages for Best Dressed Cowgirl and Cowboy is 8 and under; they must be able to sit their horse themselves and reside in Freestone County.

They can be led by another rider, NO walkers allowed. Kids must be in their line up position by 6:00 p.m. for judging. Winners must ride in the designated entry position with one handler.

-Go Texan Games

Freestone County Area Go Texan Association will be hosting the Go Texan Games again this year.

Horseshoes will be on Monday, June 16th, following the parade.

Washers will be Tuesday, June 17th at 7:00 p.m. and Cornhole will be Wednesday, June 18th at 7:00 p.m.

Entry fee for each event is $25 per person or $50 per team.

Entry is for in-county participants only and you must have valid Texas ID with a Freestone County Address. The events will be held at the backstop.

Monday is hectic with the parade, but there will be somebody there to start registration as the parade crowd rolls in.

PLEASE get pre-registered on Scoreholio so that you can check in/pay and they can get things rolling.

Y’all get out there and play some games, let’s get some money raised to give back to the fair kids!

-Youth & UPRA Rodeos

The 2025 Freestone County Youth Rodeo will be held on Wednesday, June 18, 2025 at the rodeo arena in Fairfield, Texas.

Mail entry to:  Michelle Cannon, 161 County Road 1151, Fairfield, TX 75840 (*Postmark Deadline Jue 3, 2025).

Call In (June 4th – June 11th) to: Michelle Cannon at 254-482-0437. Late Call In:  $50 Late Fee, June 16th ONLY.

UPRA Rodeos will be held June 20 & 21. Stay tuned for details.

Ticket costs for both the Youth and UPRA rodeos are $10 for 19-years and older, $5 for kids 13-18 years old, and Free for kids 12 and under, according to the FCFR website.

-Youth Ranch Rodeo Participants

Entries are now open for anyone wishing to participate in the 2025 Freestone County Youth Ranch Rodeo. It is open to all youth ages 19 and under as of January 1, 2025.

There will be team buckles awarded for Grand Champion and Reserve Champion, along with a First Place Prize of $5,000; Second Place prize of $3,000; and Third Place prize of $2,000.

Entry fee is $150 per 4-person team. (Can ride with three but FULL entry must be paid.)

The event will be held on June 19th beginning at 7:00 p.m.

-Music

Live music will be available nightly beginning at 8:00 p.m. and there is no cost to enjoy.

The lineup is as follows: Monday – Gary P. Nunn, Tuesday – 79 South, Wednesday – Cowboy Heritage Church Band, Thursday – Lanky Moore with Diamondback, Friday – Peter Sinclair, and Saturday – Logan Allison & Jacob Gonzales.

-Pet Show

The annual Pet Show will be on Saturday, June 121st beginning at 3:00 p.m.

Bring your pet and let them compete in many categories, such as best dressed, most unique, looks most like their owner, longest nose, longest tail, longest ears, and many more.

Lots of fun for all! Prizes will be given to the winners.
