Texas A&M AgriLife Extension is hosting an Aquaponics/Aquaculture Program on Friday, June 14, 2019 at the Extension Center in Overton, Texas.
This event is for hobbyists interested in aquaponics, homeowners wanting to grow their own food, and small-farms thinking about starting their own commercial system.
Join Dr. Todd Sink and Dr. Joe Masabni to learn from the experts on the latest research results of two aquaponics systems. The day-long program will end with a tour of the aquaponics greenhouse.
Cost is $60 per person, or $80 per couple. On-site registration with checks or cash accepted at the door.
Schedule:
–7:30 a.m. – Registration Begins
–8:30 a.m. – Introduction to Aquaponics
–9:30 a.m. – Homeowner System
–10:30 a.m. – Hands-on Activities: Measure pH, Dissolved oxygen, alkalinity, hardness; and calculate fish load and growth
–Noon – Lunch (on your own)
–1:00 p.m. – Aquatic Species Selection
–2:00 p.m. – Basic Fish Culture Requirements
–3:00 p.m. – Fish Health & Nutrition
–4:00 p.m. – Tour of Aquaponic Greenhouse
