Freestone County CPS Board Spotlights Child Abuse Prevention Efforts
Freestone County’s Child Protective Services Board gathered last week to recognize National Child Abuse Prevention Awareness Month.
County Judge Linda Grant signed an official proclamation, and banners have been set up on the courthouse lawn.
On Friday, April 11 beginning at Noon, a lunch plate of hotdogs, chips, and a drink will be available for $5 per plate or a donation.
All board members will be present, and Sheriff Jeremy Shipley will be grilling the dogs to help serve the community.
The money raised at this event will be used to support Freestone County children serves by the CPS Board.

CHILD ABUSE PREVENTION MONTH
PROCLAMATION
WHEREAS, Thousands of cases of child abuse and neglect are confirmed in Texas; and
WHEREAS, Child abuse awareness is a community responsibility and finding solutions depends on involvement among all people; and
WHEREAS, Communities must make every effort to promote programs that benefit children and their families; and
WHEREAS, Effective child abuse prevention programs succeed because of partnerships among agencies, schools, religious organizations, law enforcement agencies, and the business community; and
WHEREAS, Everyone in the community should become more aware of child abuse prevention and should consider helping parents raise their children in a safe, nurturing environment.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Linda K. Grant, Freestone County Judge do hereby proclaim the month of April, 2025 to be Child Abuse Prevention Month and urge all citizens to work together to help prevent child abuse and neglect significantly in this year and in years to come.
