Approved: New Brush Truck for Wortham Volunteer Fire Department

Freestone County Commissioners held a special called meeting on Tuesday, December 30, 2025, where the following items were approved.

–Acceptance of funds from Cyrus One – Donation of $1,200,000 for public safety need to upgrade radios for County first responders and a new truck for Southern Oaks Volunteer Fire Department.

–Budget transfers and amendments

–Payroll

–Purchase of a brush truck for Wortham Volunteer Fire Department in the amount of $266,750.00 with a 10% match grant, making the cost to the County $28,243.00.

The Freestone County Commissioners include Andy Bonner (Pct. 1), Will McSwane (Pct. 2), Richard McGowan (Pct. 3), Clyde Ridge Jr. (Pct. 4), and Lloyd Lane (County Judge).

Their regularly scheduled meetings are held on the first and third Wednesday of each month in the 2nd-floor courtroom.
